Forest of Bowland is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is only a 50 minutes drive from our accommodation into the heart of it.
Its countryside is perfect for walking, cycling to watching wildlife there is plenty to explore as it covers 312 square miles.
In the Forest of Bowland there are lovely villages, to name one there is Wray and they have an event at a certain time of year which is the Scarecrow festival (which you can look at my events page for dates), it is a lovely festival as the whole village all make scarecrows, and they place them in their gardens and around the village for visitors to see.
A lovely walk or cycle along the cycle track is Crook O’ Lune with its picnic area and lovely view, it is a popular place to go. Also Crook O’ Lune is a Dark Sky Discovery Site which means it’s a perfect place to star gaze.
Gisburn Forest & Stocks is a great place to walk with plenty of walking trails. If you love mountain biking then this is a great place to bring your bike with jumps and obstacles to master.
While there is plenty to do and discover in the Forest of Bowland, our self catering holiday accommodation in Morecambe makes this the best start off position for your holiday.
